At Weird World Wire, we are not usually in the mindset to promote airlines that are essentially penis extensions to oil-rich Arab Emirs, but this gem from Etihad Airways is worth a look.
As of June 10th and running until June 24th, Etihad Airways are offering a pay now, book later voucher service with a 50% bonus. To keep things nice and simple for you guys, that means if you spend $1000, you get a voucher for $1500. I hope you’re glad we cleared that up.
The minimum amount that can be spent is $250, with the upper limit being $85,000. This would have been great news for travel agents, except most have, or are in the process of going bust. It will, at least though help people rich enough to be able to drop 85k on flights.
Aside from flights the vouchers can also be used for “upgrades” such as going first, or business class.
The vouchers can be redeemed from August 1st, 2020 and are valid for two years thereafter.
Sadly this is not an online offer with Etihad not getting the memo that it is 2020 and insisting people enroll via phone.
Etihad Airways are the second biggest airline in the UAE after Emirates and are owned by the royal family of Abu Dhabi. Aside from having their own airline, the family also owns numerous football clubs, including the richest and therefore most hated club in the world Manchester City.
Are there any negatives about the Etihad program?
The airline could go bust, although unless Greta Thunberg gets her way, this is very unlikely when you factor in it being supported by oil money.
And of course, there’s also the chance that coronavirus mutates and we all enter into an even worse dystopia than being forced to watch Brad Pitt butcher World War Z.
Although in that case, having given $500 to a bunch of Arab Sheiks will be the least of your worries.
